Dasha & Henry’s Big Sur wedding

Dasha & Henry's Big Sur Grange wedding

I have many fond memories of Dasha and Henry’s Big Sur wedding at the Grange Hall, but my favorite is the one when Dasha, while wearing her wedding dress, scaled a near-vertical cliff on a whim, to perch above us and peer down, looking both dignified and adventurous, her soon-to-be husband gazing up admiringly at her as he stood below on the beach, holding her bouquet.

Candice & Andy’s Monterey wedding

Candice & Andy's Monterey wedding

I arrived at Candice and Andy’s Monterey wedding knowing that is was going to be a great day: We had a fantastic time during their engagement session in Colorado, they were getting married a few feet away from Monterey Bay, their wedding was going to have a super cool self-portrait station. And it did indeed turn out to be an awesome day, made all the more beautiful and interesting by the myriad hand-made decorations that gave the seaside wedding its oceanic theme.

Lorna & Jim’s Big Sur River Inn wedding

Lorna & Jim's Big Sur River Inn wedding

When Conner and I showed up to photograph Lorna & Jim’s Big Sur River Inn wedding, we found the groom lounging with his groomsmen on wooden chairs in the Big Sur River, just a few yards away from where was to be married in a few hours, enjoying cigars and some fine single malt scotch.

If that isn’t an indication that it’s going to be an amazing wedding, I don’t know what is.

Rosie & Matt’s San Francisco wedding

Rosie & Matt's San Francisco wedding

Let me just start out by saying that I love everything about this San Francisco wedding: the locations, the details, and (especially) the people involved. And let me also say that I was honored to be the person to photograph this wedding: the groom is an accomplished professional photographer, and many talented photographers were part of this wedding. It was an amazing day with an incredible group of people.

Ilene & Mike’s Perry House Monterey wedding

Ilene & Mike's Monterey wedding

There was a sign at Ilene & Mike’s Perry House Monterey wedding that said “Today two families become one, so pick a seat not a side.”

It was a gentle refutation of the long-standing wedding tradition that determines where guests sit during the ceremony, and the gesture wasn’t hollow: Ilene & Mike’s wedding at times reminded me of a family reunion.
