It is truly a rare thing to see a full-blown sunset from the heart of San Francisco. The fog usually swallows it up, or the hills get in the way. But the day we shot Jennie & Mike’s San Francisco engagement photos was a truly rare day indeed: Clear and warm in the middle of January as we watched the sun disappear into the Pacific from the top of Bernal Heights.

Jennie & Mike wanted to take an organic, non-scripted approach to their engagement session, avoiding all the locations that are typical for San Francisco engagement photos. We shot in their condo, in their neighborhood, and at Bernal Heights. Most of the time was spent walking and exploring, chatting and having fun. The fact that the weather was incredible was an added bonus for an already great day.

Jennie & Mike are getting married at Olympia’s Valley Estate in Petaluma, a venue that I totally fell in love with when I shot there last year. I’m so looking forward to going back, especially with such an awesome couple.
