Drew & Greg’s rustic barn wedding

Drew & Greg's rustic barn wedding

Have you ever had one of those days when everything just feels so perfect? Your friends are charming and attractive, you feel confident and successful, the sun is shining and the birds are singing and all is right with the world?

Drew and Greg’s rustic barn wedding felt like that. It was just one of those days where everything felt so … nice. Just right.

Most weddings are like that, to be fair. There’s not often a lot of grumpiness when friends and family gather to witness love. But there was just something special about Drew and Greg’s day that makes me feel that this is the best way to describe it.

Drew and Greg put a lot of DIY work into their wedding. Drew built the beautiful wooden tables (with help from an assembly line of groomsmen who were reportedly fueled by pizza and beer) that allowed their many guests to have a sit-down dinner. The event was held at Greg’s parents’ house in Hughson, Calif., which was in the process of being built during the time leading up to the wedding. (When I first looked up the address on Google Maps street view, I saw a house with no siding and someone working in the front garden. They were busy!) It all added up to a wedding day that everyone was invested in, a celebration where everyone lent a hand to ensure it was the perfect day.

As the sun set, we went to a nearby park for portraits of Drew and Greg. The light was phenomenal, the newlyweds looked amazing, the photos were coming out great, we were all having such a good time. It was … just right.
