When Patti & Richard told me they’d like to visit Ascot Hills Park for their Los Angeles engagement session, I did a quick online search and found it listed as the #1 place in the city to watch the sunset.
Yes! Even better was that we could shoot at the spot where Richard proposed, making it the perfect place to end an engagement session.
Richard is a longtime friend, brother of my old bandmate George. Richard even filled in on bass for us a few times, he’s a gifted musician. I was thrilled to travel to Los Angeles to hang out with him, his wonderful fiancé Patti and their sweet dog Bernie.
We started the session at Griffith Park, where we staged a picnic and then explored the old zoo. From there we headed downtown, catching some shots in the library, on Broadway, and in an alley with a cool Los Angeles Theatre sign as a backdrop.
The sunset at Ascot Hills did not disappoint, nor did the views of downtown. We arrived in time to do some shots among the trees near the entrance, then made our way up the hill. At the end of the session, Richard popped the celebratory champagne.
