Lauren & Roger's Lake Tahoe wedding

When Lauren & Roger told me about the venue for their Lake Tahoe wedding — a private home on the lake — I pictured in my mind a very beautiful place. When I got there and saw it in person, I realized my imagination had fallen short.

A sandy beach with tall pines for the ceremony, a gorgeous home with a large yard for the reception, a cozy cottage to get ready in … it was truly an incredible place for a wedding.

And Lauren & Roger threw a wedding to remember. From the sweeping views of the lake, down to the smallest details, everything was just right. Hand-lettered signs guided guests around the property and displayed menus for dinner and drinks. Roger’s two ushers wore top hats and canes (and had a couple rousing sword fights with the canes before guests arrived). Lauren & Roger’s dog Hank balanced their rings on his nose for one of the most unique ring photos I’ve taken. And during the reception, Roger brought out a pair of champagne glasses so big that an entire bottle only filled one a third of the way up. (He and Lauren used those during the toasts, though I’m not sure Lauren finished hers … )

Bringing all those details together was Morgan of Perfect Fête Event Design + Management, who worked tirelessly coordinate the weekend and also made those beautiful signs. I had help from Sam Maller, who did a great job as my second shooter. (I’ve listed some of the other vendors at the bottom of this blog post.)

I love Lake Tahoe and was thrilled to be there. I love the look of the place, the feel of the warm summer afternoons, the smell of the pine trees in the clean mountain air. Lauren & Roger’s Lake Tahoe wedding captured all those things and added a heartfelt wedding ceremony and joyful reception. It can be cliché to say it was a perfect day, but sometimes, it’s true.
