Lucinda & Matt’s Ardenwood Farm wedding

Lucinda & Matt’s Ardenwood Farm wedding was a day filled with beautiful details and fun moments, like peacocks wandering the ceremony site and a surprise serenading of the bride by the groom.

Lucinda, Matt and I previously visited the ceremony spot for their Ardenwood Historic Farm engagement photos. Normally I don’t like to do engagement sessions at the same location as the wedding, but the historic park in Fremont, California, offers so many amazing spots for photos that we didn’t have any repeated locations. Lucinda got ready at a nearby hotel, while Matt got ready at home, and when we all converged at our chosen place for their first look … the sprinklers came on! But no one was wet and no one was worried — we found a better spot and they had a very sweet first look, followed by a portrait session illuminated by gorgeous sun streaming through the trees.

After a beautiful heartfelt ceremony, the reception began under strings of lights hung from trees, creating a soft glow on the warm evening. Lucinda and Matt, being good hosts, made time to visit every table before dinner, speeches and first dances.

After the first dance, Matt surprised everyone by taking the mic and singing a love song to his new bride, karaoke-style, in what was one of the smoothest moves I’ve ever seen a groom pull off at a wedding. He got a hearty thumbs-up from Lucinda.

I was assisted at Lucinda & Matt’s Ardenwood Historic Farm wedding by the one and only David Royal, an old friend and the main photographer at my own wedding.
