Ah, Monterey. It can be so beautiful — the rocky coast line, the wide sandy beaches, the sparkling bay.

It can also be so darn foggy.

On the evening I went with Athena and Anthony to make their Monterey engagement photos, the fog got progressively thicker, eventually turning into something close to a light rain. But that didn’t stop us from finding lots of great places to shoot and coming up with a wonderful set of engagement pictures.

We found spots near Lover’s Point, where they’ll be getting married. And we went to locations near Fisherman’s Wharf, including a wall painted with bright blue crashing waves.

When we first met over coffee to discuss their wedding, Athena and Anthony both told me they hated having their pictures taken. But that night they were total pros, relaxed and natural. Their wedding is coming up in a few days, and I’m really looking forward to the photos we’ll make when we return to Monterey.
